Tandem Read FAQs
What is the Throne of Glass Tandem Read?
The Tandem Read is reading Empire of Storms (Book 5) and Tower of Dawn (Book 6) simultaneously in a specific chapter-by-chapter sequence. Because both books take place concurrently on different continents, reading them together turns them into one epic 1,370-page mega-novel.
Why is the Tandem Read recommended for first-time readers?
Empire of Storms ends on an agonizing, catastrophic cliffhanger. If you read the books individually, you must read all 660 pages of Tower of Dawn (following Chaol on the Southern Continent) before finding out Aelin's fate in Kingdom of Ash. The tandem read avoids this emotional stall completely.
Is the Tandem Read confusing or hard to follow?
Not at all with this checklist! You simply read the specified chapters from one book, check the box, and switch to the other book when instructed. There is minimal timeline overlap and zero spoilers between the storylines.
